5 men’s skin care tips

Here at Clarins, we know a thing or two about skincare (we’ve got over 60 years’ experience after all). You may not realise it, but daily life, your environment and stresses can take a toll on how your skin looks.

That’s why we’ve put together our men’s skin care guide full of tips, tricks and men’s skin care advice to target the specific concerns of today’s man. Simply add them into your skincare routine and uncover happier and healthier skin.

Invest in a good cleanser to keep skin fresh

Cleansing your skin first thing in the morning helps clear and wake up skin, while cleansing after a long day removes dirt, excess oil and any impurities that have built up on your skin. If you don’t, skin can start to look dehydrated and dull.

Our ClarinsMen Active Face Wash is designed to give you an ultra-clean complexion by helping to clear out those impurities that clog your pores and tackle daily grime and pollutants. It’s made with the gentle purifying power of grindelia and gaultheria extracts and bison grass to help energise your skin.

Our cleanser is mild enough to use twice a day on wet skin. Simply work into a lather and massage the cleanser gently onto your face, focusing on your forehead, nose and chin. Rinse thoroughly and finish with cold water to tone the skin and close pores.

Cleansing your face twice a day is the perfect first step to include within your men’s skin care routine to keep skin feeling energised and clean. In a rush? Try cleansing when you’re in the shower. Who says men can’t multitask?

Make facial moisturiser your new best friend

Another handy skin care tip (and what should also form part of your skin care routine) is to use a daily moisturiser to keep skin healthy and hydrated.

It’s a good idea to use moisturiser even if you’re not prone to dry skin, as regular exposure to environmental factors can cause fine lines and rougher skin texture - something that moisturising can help to combat.

We recommend using a daily moisturiser that helps your skin fight against daily external aggressors, such as our ClarinsMen Super Moisture Balm. Ultra-hydrating, our comforting and non-greasy moisturiser is designed to strengthen skin and combat any tightness. We’ve included our organic leaf of life extract to help hydrate skin and bison grass to soothe and energise.

Start using an eye cream

As you get older, the delicate skin around your eyes becomes more prone to showing the first signs of aging, such as creasing and fine lines.

That’s why using an eye cream, such as our ClarinsMen Line-Control Eye Balm, is an important step in starting your anti-aging strategy - and kicking those fine lines to the curb.

Been burning the candle at both ends? Eye creams can help lift, firm and take down any of that puffiness, for a revitalised and well-rested look. Plus, our maritime pine extract helps fade any dark circles.

How you apply your moisturiser can make a difference, too. We recommend adding a small drop of product to your fingertips and applying gently to your eye contours; saying goodbye to those wrinkles and crow's feet.

Care for your skin as you shave

Using shaving cream can help care for your skin as you use the sharp blades of your razor. Don’t be shy with your shaving cream, either - the more you use, the more likely your skin is going to be soft and hydrated.

Our ClarinsMen Smooth Shave Foaming Gel is made for your daily shave, offering full protection and nourishment. Think of it as a cushion for your skin, shielding your face from any shaving irritation and razor burn and allowing you to manage those most challenging angles. Our Bison Grass and Chinese Galanga extracts also see to it that skin is left soft, smooth and purified.

You can help things along by exfoliating before you shave, too. This will help to soften those hairs and prep skin. Why not check out our guide on how to use shaving cream for more helpful tips and tricks?

Don’t skip the after-shave

Whether you have a beard or shave regularly, it’s important to treat the skin in that area with more attention than you would the rest of your face. This means using an aftershave balm like our ClarinsMen After Shave Soother to help soothe those signs of ‘razor-stressed’ skin, such as irritation, dryness or razor burn.

Our alcohol-free and non-greasy balm contains purslane, centella and blue alpine thistle to soothe any irritations or redness as well as protecting against dehydration.
