Vitamin C is the hero ingredient to achieve flawless skin. Adding Vitamin C skincare products to your routine helps boost your skin's radiance, and reduces pigmentation and fine lines without irritation..
What is Vitamin C?
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a nutrient your body needs to form blood vessels, cartilage, muscle, and collagen in bones. In cosmetics, it's the vitamin of choice for dull complexions that want to regain their radiance and even out their complexion (anti-dark spot action) by limiting the overproduction of melanin. However, when pure, it is also unstable, degrading very quickly in the presence of light or heat. To guarantee its performance in our formulas, Clarins Laboratories have selected a stabilised vitamin C derivative.
What are the benefits of Vitamin C for the skin?
Vitamin C skincare has many skin-healing properties that make it an excellent choice for anyone in pursuit of happy, healthy skin. One of the most well-known benefits of a Vitamin C product is that it can brighten your skin and minimise dark spots. Since vitamin C inhibits the tyrosinase enzyme, which causes skin discolouration, it helps lighten dark patches.
Vitamin C skincare stimulates the skinβs production of collagen, a protein that maintains skin moisturised and firm as well as keeps it plump and hydrated. Hence, Vitamin C can also minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The National Library of Medicine study shows that daily vitamin C formulation use for at least three months improved the appearance of fine and coarse wrinkles on the face and neck.

Vitamin C skincare tips for dry skin
Consider incorporating a gentle vitamin C product into your skincare routine to support your skin's hydration and appearance. Antioxidant properties contribute to the youthful, glowing appearance of your skin. It promotes collagen formation, tissue healing, and the elimination of free radicals, all of which contribute to better skin.
- ● Starting with a gentle face cleanser for dry skin. Soothing Gentle Foaming Cleanser is a great choice that gently and effectively removes impurities, makeup, and pollution while preserving the skin's natural microbiota.
- ● Enhance your skincare with our Fresh Ampoule Vitamin C Complex from Clarins, a unique blend of ascorbic acid and a vitamin C derivative. This carefully formulated product is designed for use in the morning and evening to complement your daily skincare routine.
- ● For Vitamin C face cream, you can choose the Super Restorative Rose Radiance Cream to replenish, exfoliate and beautify the skin and day after day revive its natural, rosy radiance.
Is vitamin C skincare better in the morning or night?
The best time to apply vitamin C skincare product is in the morning, after cleansing and toning your complexion, and before moisturiser and SPF. If you don't have overly sensitive skin, you can apply it in the morning and evening.
What shouldn't you mix with vitamin C?
Vitamin C skincare should not be mixed with acids, which includes all AHAs and BHAs. when paired with vitamin C, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) can cause irritation, so consider using the former in the morning and the latter at night.
It is also recommended that you should not use retinol, niacinamide, and benzol peroxide in the same routine. If you want a double dose of both, wait at least 30 minutes before applying retinol over vitamin C. Alternatively, you can use vitamin C in the morning and the other ones at night.
