The giant Provençal reed is one of the tallest herbaceous plants, reaching up to 2 to 10 m in height. It grows rapidly and is very robust. Originating in the Mediterranean region and East Asia, the giant Provençal reed is highly resistant to environmental stress and exceptionally resilient. This strong adaptive ability allows it to resist natural selection and so-called epigenetic variations.
Skincare benefits of Organic giant Provençal reed extract
With its incredible powers of resilience, giant Provençal reed extract helps to neutralize 100% of epigenetic changes linked to lifestyle (in vitro test on a fibroblast culture exposed to UV rays and pollution). This makes the skin more resistant to environmental factors and minimizes the visible signs of ageing linked to lifestyle. This is an exclusive organic Clarins development that is 100% made in France.
Responsible sourcing
Our organic giant Provençal reed grows along a stream at the heart of a protected regional nature park in the south of France. To produce our extract, the cane alone is hand-picked before flowering in accordance with good practices for the harvesting of wild plants. The picker is in charge of environmental protection on a harvesting site. By applying the good practices for the harvesting of wild plants, our partner keeps the site healthy. Clarins has worked with this partner and the Conservatory of Natural Areas of Occitanie to set up a protection programme for dragonflies which indicate healthy biodiversity.
