The Laboratory
For many years, Clarins Laboratories has obtained high-level recognition that goes beyond the required regulatory standards. This recognition rewards their absolute commitment to client safety. On the production side, the priority is to reduce greenhouse gases and to optimise the use of natural resources.
Very high level accreditations
The manufacturing site in Pontoise, north of Paris, received a certification from Ecocert, a quality-control organisation that is managed by public powers. Clarins Laboratories received a Good Laboratories Practice accreditation by the French health agency for their cellular culture unit. They are the first premium cosmetics laboratory to obtain this accreditation which validates tolerance testing and high tech formulas; accreditations that were once reserved for the production of pharmaceutical products.
Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Following the Carbon Study, indicators were set to reduce the impact of packaging and transportation, reduce air freight, limit business travel (through the use of video conferencing), prefer renewable energy sources, encourage energy-saving lighting and heating units, reduce water use and improve the water-recycling process. In the same manner, economic and environmental factors also include streamlining production and improving the supply chain. Industrial waste is collected, sorted then systematically treated so that it is inoffensive to the environment.
Did you know?
Clarins set a global objective to reduce greenhouse gases by 20% by the year 2012. The most important reductions planned concern packaging and POP material, freight and business travel as well as energy.
