Pequi Caryocar brasiliense
Location:
Brazil
Pequi is a perennial tree that only grows in the Amazonian part of Brazil. The natives use its wood, very resistant to deformation, as a building material and consume its fruit which is composed of approximately 60% oil with remarkable energising properties. Its high levels of oleic fatty acids make it highly nutritious and protective.
